Strong rumours suggest the Fujifilm X-T5 will be announced and shipped this November. We expect a lot from this camera, since it could be the sweet spot between functionality and price for beginning photographers.
It is the always reliable Fuji Rumors telling us the X-T5 will be announced and shipping coming November. We are excited about this camera, and we hope Fujifilm once again will push the boundaries for APS-C cameras.
Fujifilm X-T4 successor
The Fujifilm X-T5 is the successor of the popular 2020 Fujifilm X-T4, and that camera is still found in many best mirrorless cameras top-lists. This year we saw Fujifilm releasing the X-H2 and X-H2S and both these models shook the APS-C world with their bold specifications. The X-H2S is video focussed with a stacked APS-C sensor, 7-axis stabilization and 6.2K 422 HQ film. The slightly newer X-H2 is the first camera in the world, boasting a 40 megapixel APS-C sensor.
True competitor of Canon’s entry-level cameras
The Fujifilm X-T5 will be placed next to cameras such as the Canon EOS R7, EOS R10, Sony FX30 and the more professional Panasonic Lumix GH6. As you can see, 2022 has been a big year for new cameras and their technology, and that’s why we are excited about the X-T5!
The X-T5 touches the sweet spot for new photographers
Other reasons why we are waiting for the Fujifilm X-T5? Because it can be the perfect camera for beginning photographers. We expect a lot of power and quality, for a very affordable price. While specs for the camera aren’t yet released officially, we do have an idea of what’s in store by looking at what we’ve already seen in other cameras released this year.
Specifications Fujifilm X-T5
The Fujifilm X-H2S has a stacked 26.16MP APS-C BSI sensor, and according to Fuji Rumors, we won’t see this sensor in the X-T5. It seems more logical that the 40MP APS-C X-Trans 5 HR BSI sensor is used, and that would mean that we’ll see a second 40MP camera on the market.
The X-T5 will be a less professional version than the X-H2 and therefore will lose some features. Imagine dual card slots instead of CFexpress card slots. Other differences could be a smaller grip, a lesser EVF and limits on video recording time. This ‘downgrade’ ensures that the X-T5 ends up in the same waters as the X-T4.
- 40MP APS-C X-Trans Sensor
- Improved ISO with lower Base ISO
- Same dynamic range as X-H2
- Same overall image quality as X-H2
- X-H2 and X-T5 will have the same autofocus system
- X-T5 has no battery grip
- X-T5 retains classic design
- Nov 2022
Similar to competitors, but with more megapixels and better lenses
Looking at the rumoured specifications, the X-T5 will be like its competitors. But, it does have the high megapixel count and vast variety of native XF-lenses to its advantage.
The Canon EOS R7 and EOS R10 APS-C cameras have an RF-s mount and only two native lenses to choose from. With the Canon’s decision to keep RF lens production to themselves, the RF lens range won’t be expanded soon.
Fujifilm offers XF lenses of any focal length, such as the XF56mm f/1.2 R WR (Mark II type lens), up to telephoto primes like the XF300mm f/4, XF400mm f/4 and XF500mm f/5.6.
Sony has just released the ZV-1F vlog camera, but stays away from developing good mid-range mirrorless cameras. This is why the Fujifilm X-T5 could become the winning entry-level APS-C camera of 2022. For now, you can still buy the Fujifilm X-T4 at Amazon UK!
